감자탕 Gamjatang

     Not only was it served bubbling boiling hot, this 감자탕 was a little on the spicy side!  

감  (gahm) - 자 (jah) - 탕 (tang)

     감자탕  is a pork bone soup.  It's made with the spine.  To eat it, one has to pick the meat off the bone.  I've always found plenty of meat in there.  

     There was a restaurant near where I lived that served this for about 6000 wons.  I was a frequent customer of theirs.  Once, while there, I bit into a small green pepper, and BOY was it HOT!  I did my best to keep my composure, and I drank lots of water.  The HOT did not go away for about ten minutes.  Whew!  I couldn't eat anymore of this soup until it did!
